Steady Support for the Next Step — Dr. Paul
A concrete, optional resource for National Recovery Month — offered alongside, never in place of, professional care.
Earlier this month, I wrote about what National Recovery Month means and why steadiness — one chosen step at a time — matters more than any dramatic overhaul. I said I'd follow up with one concrete resource I'd evaluated that fits that same idea. This is that resource.
To be clear from the start: what follows is not a recovery protocol, and it isn't treatment for addiction, anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress, or any other condition. It's one optional collection of products I reviewed against criteria I relied on throughout my years in practice — nothing more, nothing less. If you or someone you love is in or seeking recovery from a mental health or substance use disorder, the professionals and programs equipped to help remain the right first call. This is simply something some readers may find useful alongside that support.
An Honest Note on the Name
Fullscript, the dispensary platform I work with, currently lists this collection under the name "Addiction Bundle." I want to name that plainly rather than quietly work around it, because I think transparency matters more than a tidier label. Being named that way does not mean the products in it treat addiction — they don't, and no one should read it that way. It's a grouping Fullscript has organized around general nutritional, calm-related, and evening-routine ingredients, and that's the honest scope of what it is.
🌿 What's in the Collection
I evaluated each of these for defined ingredients, appropriate form, and companies whose formulation standards I trusted from my years in practice. Here's what's currently included, exactly as listed by Fullscript:
1. ☀️ Vitamin D3 10,000 + K — Metagenics — 60 softgels
Current source note: one softgel every other day, increasing to one daily if a vitamin D level is below 50 ng/dL. A foundational nutritional-support product; any dosing decision should be guided by an actual lab value and a healthcare provider, not assumed.
2. 🌿 UltraClear® RENEW, Berry — Metagenics — 756 grams
Current source note: two scoops daily, mixed with cold water, juice, almond milk, or a smoothie (vanilla and chai flavors also available). A nutritional-support formula meant to be mixed into a daily routine.
3. 🧠 Suntheanine L-Theanine — Natural Factors — 60 tablets
Current source note: one to two tablets, up to three times daily, as needed. An amino-acid ingredient sometimes used for its calm-supporting properties; it is not a stress treatment.
4. 🌙 Tranquil Sleep® Chewable Tablets, Tropical Flavor — Natural Factors — 60 tablets
Current source note: one to two tablets, about an hour before bed, to help with falling asleep. Part of an evening-routine grouping; not a treatment for insomnia or any sleep disorder.
5. ⚖️ Emotion Balance Support (formerly Deproloft-HF) — Thorne — 120 capsules
Current source note: one capsule, twice daily. Selected for its defined formulation; it is not a treatment for mood, anxiety, or depression.
6. 🧘 Theanine — Thorne — 90 capsules
Current source note: one capsule, one to three times daily, as needed. Also an amino-acid formulation in the calm-related category.
I chose these companies because their approach to ingredient sourcing and formulation transparency matched criteria I relied on when evaluating products in practice — not because any product is being promised to produce a particular result.
A Note on Safety and Individualized Guidance
None of these product notes are dosing advice from me, and none should be treated as universal. This is especially true for the Vitamin D3 product: whether a higher-strength dose is appropriate depends entirely on an individual's actual lab values and health history, which only a healthcare provider reviewing that person's specific situation can assess. The same holds for every product listed here — if you're considering any of them, especially alongside medication, therapy, or existing treatment, please talk with your physician or pharmacist first.

How This Follows the September 1st Post
The September 1 post was the broad, personal entry point — reflection on Recovery Month, steadiness, routine, and community, without naming any product. This post is the concrete follow-through: one specific, optional resource for readers who want something tangible, offered with the same "one small step" spirit, not as a departure from it.
In good health,
Dr. Paul (retired)
