Welcome to Summer 2022!

My July started with a family reunion - 40 people coming together from around the country and Canada, celebrating my 90-year-old parents. The wedding of my youngest followed this week of sharing. We had three aged 90 years or more, an 80-year-old, and several of us in our 60’s, with most attending being in their 20’s and 30’s, and the youngest was 7.

COVID also decided to join our reunion, with two of the 40 becoming ill shortly after arrival, then testing positive. We tested everyone at that point. Despite frequent testing and isolation of those ill and those testing positive, most of us in the 50 – 90 age group turned positive regardless of vaccine status. For most, it was a slight sore throat, slight congestion, and fatigue. I had one early morning of fever and body aches, and everyone recovered quickly within days.
How did we handle this, you might ask? Everyone started on Vitamins C, D, zinc, and quercetin. Those over age 50 took melatonin as well and a dose of ivermectin. Once positive, it was ivermectin daily or every other day for a few doses until better. Those most symptomatic had rapid improvement within a day or two after starting the ivermectin.
What did we learn from this? For me, this experience reinforced a few things:
  • Families need to gather and connect in love.
  • There is no need for fear.
  • COVID is no longer a significant threat, especially if you’re prepared.
  • Our loved ones need us and will listen when in this case, COVID hits.
  • Luck favors the prepared, or COVID is not dangerous for 99% of us in good health.
  • Be prepared, especially if you attend a sizeable prolonged gathering like a family reunion.

Integrative Pediatrics has remained open throughout the COVID pandemic, and we have seen patients in the office. We can test in the office for COVID and other infections like the flu, RSV, and mono, with results available in 20 minutes or less. Contact us first before going to urgent care or the emergency room, unless it is an emergency needing immediate attention.
​We had a recent water damage event that shut down six of our ten exam rooms. Thank you for being so patient as we go through the necessary reconstruction. It may be a month or two before we are back to full use of our facility.

Dr. Paul's Fight Update

Many of you know the ongoing battle the OMB (Oregon Medical Board) is waging against me (Dr. Paul). They have been relentless and persistent. I have a gag order, so I cannot share details of any ongoing investigations, of which there are many though not initiated by patient complaints!
I would not be able to continue the expensive legal battles without the generous support of so many. The big three-week trial is this coming November, and the need for help has never been greater.
